If you have never been to Maine, I recommend you start planning a trip immediately! I fell in love with the coast on this trip and can’t wait to visit again. Sonja’s family owns a vacation home on the coast where she spent so much of her childhood - so it was a natural choice for the city they chose to marry in. These two planned an entire week of fun for their guests, since everyone was flying in from either overseas Norway, where they live, or another state. We all enjoyed, in true local Maine fashion, a delicious lobster bake, where I learned how to take apart a whole lobster for the first time. It was more delicious than I had expected - and shameful that I had grown up on the east coast and had no idea how to do it! This was the perfect way to start the wedding events for the rest of the week and truly set the tone for an eventful wedding day - more to come on that adventure.
This bride is particularly special to me! I have known Sonja since college - she was my roommate, sorority sister, and one of my best friends, so it was incredibly special to have spent the week showering her with love and finally having the opportunity to meet the man who captured her heart. Inevitably, in the amount of time we spent together in college, we had plenty of conversations about the men we would marry, what the perfect wedding would be like, and I swear at one point we were considering joining the Navy together (for reasons very unclear to me now, haha). To see the woman she has grown in to and to see her loved for who she truly is, is such an incredible gift. It was such a joy to celebrate you two!
